It’s been five years since we lost the shining star that was August Ames. Five years. In the days after the announcement of her passing, XCritic bloggers, reviewers, and publicist Erika Icon sat down to put their thoughts on virtual paper. The question on everyone’s mind was how do we respond to cyberbullying and the loss of her and other performers before and after her? One of our former team members, Steve Pulaski, wrote up this article about it and Ravyn penned this tribute. Perhaps, though, the one who deserves accolades for really swinging into action is Leya Tanit, the founder of Pineapple Support. She saw a glaring problem and took it upon herself to do something about it. Today, that initial spark of an idea when had has helped many, many performers dealing with mental health issues for little to no cost. You can read Jim Steele’s interview with her here. Thank you to everyone for sharing their thoughts and thank you to those who are forging ahead and helping however they can. We miss you August but want you to know that you helped bring forth positive change in the adult industry.
